University of Manitoba

All applicants are required to meet the University of Manitoba's approved English Proficiency Standards, either through an approved waiver or the successful completion of an approved English proficiency test. Test result requirements are: IAEP (Intensive Academic English Program)Level 5, IELTS 6.5, CAEL 60, TOEFL IBT 86, PTE 58, Cambridge C1 180 and C2 180.

The English Language Centre (ELC) provides courses, tests, accommodations and individual support to students whose first language is not English in order to support academic success and participation in the University of Manitoba community. The ESL program is called Intensive Academic English Program IAEP and prepares students for university by providing them with the academic language skills they need to succeed. The English Language Centre (ELC) also offers several Part-Time Academic English Courses (PTAEC) for current UM students and community members whose first language is not English and would like to improve their academic English.

University Of Regina

The University of Regina welcomes approximately 3,000 international students from nearly 100 countries to the main campus in Regina, Saskatchewan. The University of Regina has a large number of departments within nine main faculties: Faculty of Engineering, Education, Kinesiology and Health Studies, Science, Social Work, Administration, Arts and Graduate Studies.

English language requirements for admission have to be verified here are some examples:

Successful completion of the English as a Second Language (ESL 050) program or a minimum average score of 55 on the ESL placement exam both offered through the Centre for Continuing Education at the University of Regina.

Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE), also known as C1 Advanced, formerly known as Cambridge English: Advanced with an overall minimum score of 180 and a minimum score of 169 in each skill (Reading, Use of English, Writing, Listening, and Speaking).

Internationally Recognized Standards (GCSE/IGCSE/GCE, GCE A/AS/AICE) GCSE/IGCSE/GCE O' Level English, English Language, or English as a Second Language with a minimum grade of '6' (grade of B prior to 2017) or GCE A/AS/AICE Level English or English Language with a minimum grade of 'C'.

Advanced Placement English (grade of 3 or better) or International Baccalaureate Higher English (grade of 4 or better).

IELTS A 6.5; PTE A 59; CAEL 60; MELAB 85; CELT 60; Duolingo 110.

The University of Regina ESL English as a Second Language Academic Program can begin from home at times to suit your schedule. Remote, non-credit ESL courses can be taken online. Core ESL classes integrate all language skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing, through a theme-based curriculum. Skill ESL classes focus on specific language skills. The ESL program offers: 13 weeks of classes per term; 3 terms per year; 252 hours of instruction per term.

University of Saskatchewan has over 200 academic programs on its Saskatoon, Saskatchewan campus, and is internationally known for its teaching and research.
